Kerala Hindi Sahithya Academy was established in 1982. It has been registered as charitable society act on 1996, Registration No:277/82. The aims and objects of the K.H.S.A, mainly is to promote and protect nation integration of the country through literary and cultural activities. The organization was started by the working committee headed by Dr N. Chandrasekharan Nair, a well known writer. The organization has succeeded to intrust the outfit that it has given Awards for 70 writers to encourage them to write vigorously. KHSA established an atmosphere literary trend in Hindi in the state.
Nearly thousand college students have been encouraged to write in Hindi originally through regular competitions conducted by K.H.S.A and they were given cash awards properly. The institution has a research library, through which the president of K.H.S.A (Dr N. Chandrasekharan Nair) brought out six persons doctor degree ( Phd ) and now they are working as professors in different colleges.
The president, Dr N.C. Nair has brought out fifty literary books and recently he published his Autobiography, a well accepted volume. Before this his biographies in Hindi.and Tamil was published by two eminent writers of both languages. His aim to conduct this institution is to make Hindi writers as many can be made. K.H.S.A has brought out many valuable books of national merit and some of them have been awarded on national level. The literary works of the president of K.H.S.A are now in the process of research field of Indian Universities, Now a day he has written an epic named Chirajiv Mahakavya.
In 1980 Kerala Hindi Sahithya Parishad was formed as a Sanstha at Trivandrum , the capital city of Kerala and was inaugurated by the then hon. Chief Minister of Kerala, E.K.Nayanar.This Parishad has conducted more than 100 meetings regarding the literary propagation of Hindi and Malayalam Language. This sanstha after some years established into the Kerala Hindi Sahithya Academy.The Inauguration of this Academy was done by hon.Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri.K.Karunakaran on 13th June 1982. The First Sahithya Puraskar by the academy was awarded to Sri Dev Keraliya.
